Happy House, in the Rain

Through the falling leaves
A history comes alive at the sight of these tall walls
And with the gravel under my feet
I remember this is where my identity began to form;
Chivalry's endangered
But here is its sanctuary;
Love is mutilated,
But here is its tributary.

And now that I'm home
You can't chase this darkness out of my heart,
Like death on a winter rose
You can't go back to the start.

With every pang of heartache
I remember you
I remember the place
I remember the love;
The flower in the hair,
The insoles and the heels,
The Wingwoman's work,
The singular hoot I made,
Oh the silent dinners
We just looked at each other
Jumping on the bed
In happiness; I said
Things in so many secret chits
That I probably shouldn't have said
Ran through gravel in my heels
And now these feet won't give me rest,
Got to know a friend
Got make so many new friends,
Got to feel my heart beat like the drums at Lupercal
With the drumsticks controlled by other personnel;

I'm glad you all came
Into my life; and in my heart you'll stay,
These memories won't die
As long as you'll always be there.

Dedicated to all the Doscos, and my PWSians <3

If This Summer Was All I Had

It doesn't bother me that I am
Confined to these four walls;
There's just a window, tall and bleak,
And I watch as raindrops fall.

This may be the last summer that I have
But I can't muster the strength
To make it worth the time and the fun
It deserves at such length.

And I see you all having the time of your life,
I see you all touring the world every week,
And I ask myself "Why have they left me behind?
Why is my own summer so bleak?"

But a prisoner can't beg for good food,
A caged bird can't demand to see the Alps,
A trapped miner can't ask for fresh air,
A cornered mouse can't plead with a please.

So I'll sit here and love my four walls,
I'll sit here and enjoy the view of the window
And I'll conjure the strength to pretend
That this solitary confinement isn't at all dull and low.

Advice to Myself

She may tell you that she hates you
And it may lance the fullness of your heart
But she doesn't know what hate really is,
Or what is life is like when love does depart.
She may rant incessantly, for hours, for days,
But don't listen to it, don't try to understand it-
If her mind is riddled with unsolvable problems
Stay quiet until she finds the inner peace to quit.
Her eyes are clouded with rage, but she only sees red
Beyond the colour, there is no reason she can derive,
And if she finds the occasional reason in her head,
It's lack of practicality, for her, is hard to view live.

So tell yourself, as young as you are,
That she's a fragile ball of emotion
And let silence be her comfort,
Let your empathy set her smile in motion.

Superhumans

All you want is to dream-
Dream until the reality fades
Into fairydust camouflaged
By the brilliance of a tree's shade-

You could lie in solitude,
You could smile at the sane sky
And you could marvel the velocity of the wind
But you couldn't escape, on the sly

This world.

The iron bars of the cages that trap you
Have become dusted in rust
And though your cage extends for miles
Escape has become a must;

You could sit here and be happy
Like this crowd of billions that surrounds you,
Or you could jump and face the bars
And rise about what you've learnt is true!

If they'd told you that the sky's the limit
You could strive for infinity and what's beyond,
If they've held you to the earth too long,
You could leap until you break the bond.

You could strive for so much more
Beyond your superhuman capabilities
I believe that you're above the world
So use your insane abilities.

All you want is to dream-
Dream until the reality fades
But now you can make it real.
You're beyond us by decades.

The Big Bang

I found it, what they've been searching for,
The proof of the Big Bang,
In my hands lies this discovery
And I can't wait to throw it away.

What happened?
Why couldn't I just stay in one place?
Appreciating that the world stays the same;
But of course it doesn't.

It was just our family, it was my world
And then we played some Wife Swap
It became a permanent fixation,
And the world grew as my eyes opened.

The child that was once me
Saw the gruesome face of life
And the universe expanded
With the smear of red on a bread knife

Aeroplane over the deep blue sea
It brought upon a paradigm shift
No it wasnt just us here in Milwaukee
For I learnt about The Rest Of The World.

Growing, fighting, loving
And the planets start to lean away
When once we were talking
Now we're strangers, day by day

Oh then that feeling, like loving,
With you standing so close to me
I could whisper in silence
You would hear it, as if I were screaming

With the stretch of my fingers
I can brush through your hair
But we're standing on two planets
And they're both moving away

Watching as the distance elongates,
As the asteroid belts come in place
As we reach two suns at the Universe's polar ends
It's true, the Universe expands every day.

Now you see,
The scientific proof laid out in front of you
What was once a theory
I've shown you that it is true.

The Big Bang is real, I see it everyday
We move so far away;
And I hope they're right about that Big Crunch
Because I hope to hold you again.

S I X T E E N

Buzzing with the happiness of
Being so special for one day
When everything falls into place
And fun just won't go away
I can know the world cares about me
In the most peculiar way
And the song of the wind seems to
Mutter my name on Saturday

And the clouds seem
To keep themselves at bay
To shine light upon the truth
That seems to have slipped my notice anyway;
Divine intervention,
In some way
Has come to grant me
My happy birthday.

Senseless Tunes

Too to doo do doo do doo
I feel like flying in the sky with you,
And pretend we're aeroplanes;
Oh dum dee dum dee dum
Let's go underwater and hum
The songs that I want to sing to you.

Let's jump over the moon,
Lie still in water like a spoon,
Or lets roll in the hilly grass
Lay on our backs and watch birds pass,
Oh let's dance in the night
With our spirits taking flight,
I want to swim through the air,
Run my fingers through your hair!

Because maybe now
I should confess
Whenever we talk,
My heart just starts beating a bit too fast!
I like the way it feels,
The way my head reels,
Even hours after you've gone.
Oh oh,
You know, you know,
I'd love to to just embrace you
Until its perfectly true
That I've expressed way too much to you =)

Leaves aren't leaves
If not propped up by branches
And when those branches fall apart,
They come flying to the ground
Trailing in circles,
Drifting with the wind
Always looking, looking, looking...

Like I look.

I look for that happiness
I used to see on your faces
Whenever I'd smile to make you smile.
I look for that relief that was evident
When I'd be with you for a while
When we'd make memories out of nothing;
But the branches have all fallen apart
I'm just drifting in air,
Being carried somewhere, oh I don't know where-
Just drifting, looking,
To see if anyone still cares as strongly as they did.

Maybe I'm just like bread
That depreciates with age
No one cares about it
Past its expiration date.
What if my best-until date
Has gone by
What if the branches have snapped
What if I'm broken and zapped
Just floating in the air
That whips aroudn your hair.

Do they treasure me
Like I treasure them?
No,
I don't seem to know.

Wish

Sometimes I wish
That I could just fall into your arms,
Wide open, forever,
I wish I could just surrender.
I wish what we say to each other
Was our reality
And that the intimacy
Lasted forever.

I wish that the hugs we share
Would quench my longing for you
But circumstances aren't that fair-
Every look between us
Illicits a cartwheel in my heart
And at times, it's hard to differentiate
Between the love I feel for you
And the love I feel for how we are.

And I wish
I could stop wishing for all this;
When you repaint Mona Lisa
It's just not the same, now, is it?
Let's just freeze these moments right here
And hope that it nothing changes this happiness
Between us, this sense of harmony
Because anything more
Would just be unnatural.
I wish for this wish
To be lost in the sea of hopes and dreams
That, if they came true,
Would change us 'til we're bursting at the seams.

100th Post, Happy Birthday SM!

This is my 100th post on this beloved blog that has helped prop me up and go through a lot. It's a bloodbank of memories and pains and moments that are meant to be etched in my head forever!

I wrote a poem for a close friend of mine, who's birthday was on the 7th, initials: SM

I wrote this for you :)
(on your card!)

You’ve got me wishing we had
More time by our side
Because being your friend
Is like a rollercoaster ride:
Everytime I go down and I’m alone
You enter the picture
And the world goes up once more.
Our banter makes me smile
For hours and for miles,
You’re my penny on a sidewalk,
The castle at the end of my beanstalk;
Not a single bad moment with you
I both hate and love you;
And ‘cause you deserve the best on your way,
I hope you have a Happy Birthday <3
